John--- I made the surgery you suggested in this thread: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3546 Now I have a centered door cut and brand new corners :D I'm laying out the room's contents within the available space. It's important to me having a correct layout, since I'll be cuting my wood floor and installing cable ducts. Afterwards I'll cover it with T&G flooring. The Mix Desk and Effects Rack are particularily important, since they'll cover up the holes in the floor and the cabling. I used the 38% rule posted by Wes Lachot on the Recording.org forum to decide the proper listening position. What do you think about this layout?? I didn't put measures on the speaker placement, soffit structure, nor angles. Please comment on adequate acoustic treatment. As of now I think false ceiling with hangers on front, wood covered soffit/bass trap structure, and a long hanger on each rear corner within the corner units. Thanks, Rodrigo Montfort ps. Part of the picture was cut. The red square is a concrete column...

oops, sorry about that... (double post)
Rodrigo - you have to draw up where the speakers will be directed plus you have to allow access to the studio around your desk. It would look more like this when taking that into account. cheers john

Thanks John--- When I made the diagram and uploaded it, I hadn't sit in the listening position. Afterwards, I measured and marked the position according to the diagram and it seemed awfully close to the front wall. That 38% rule must work with larger rooms only. I already moved back the position about 0.30 m. And it made more sense... I started cutting the wood floor and will install the pipes as soon as possible. Thanks! The rear doors are very short (5'8"). I thought of using absortion panels on the available wall space (at the center, over the doors) and even attached to the doors. What do you think? Of course I would still have corner units, perhaps without slats on the rear. regards, Rodrigo
