Hi John, Can I leave the top part of the soffit wall open or should I extend it all the way up. In my case the top part will not be visible anyways since I am constructing an angled fake ceiling from the top of the window to the middle of the room. I was thinking of leaving it open so the heat from the monitors could disipate from the top and bottom. Please check the attached drawing for detail. Regards, luis.

Luis - I'd run it up to the top but leave a small openning for the heat to get out. cheers JOhn
small.....how does 2" x 2" sounds? Another soffit related question? Does the timber finish for the soffit face needs to be smooth? (like a sheet of plywood) or can it have small groves. I found this timber material used for decorating a wall. I can joint 3" wide pieces together and it will look very nice but I am not sure if the small groves will cause a problem. Cheers, Luis.
How about 6" x 4" ?? the gooves are fine luis, was very popular in the 70s to have hard wood V jointed which is similar to what you are using. cheers john
Check out a little preview of how is looking so far... Luis.

Funny to see all the tubes in that picture, can you say caulk everything. What is the width of that wall? Ryan
can you say caulk everything
You got that right ! I think that is my 5th box of 12 already. The width of the control room is 13' the front wall from soffit to soffit is 9'. Luis.
looking good Luis - that's going to sound great :) cheers john
I´d love to see pics of the finished room! cheers! Fabio
what monitors will be there?? Is not too big monitors for a small room?? John, there are problems with big monitors in small rooms? :?:
