Fabric installation tips?

It's been a while since I've posted but we've made some huge progress! We're real close to installing the rigid into our acoustical walls and control room rear-soffit-bass-traps (see pics here http://www.618productions.com/graphics/studio/studiopics.htm). Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had tips on installing fabric to make it look nice, neat and pro. We're using the Burch Fabric equivalent to Guilford so we're working with a 66" useable width. Thanks all, Brad PS: The photos don't really show where we are at right now but I'll have some new ones up eventually :D
Brad We used to use 3M Super 77 spray adhesive for the fabric-wrapped exhibit stuff I used to do. It's a bit pricey, but works well. You may want to have a few fresh single-edge razor blades to cut the stuff, too, some of the fabrics are a bear to cut with a knife or scissors. Frank
Woah... FRANK! Everybody, I'd like to introduce our carpenter... Frank! This guy kicks serious ass with a saw so watch yourselves. Seriously though, he has done great work for us and solved many a problem. Man, I own you an apology. For some reason I didn't think to ask you if you had any tips. Here's hoping to see you soon. -Brad
Hey Brad, glad to hear progress is happening; I'm assuming after that marathon electrical code session at RO you've made peace with your local gestapo?? What was the final outcome on your ground wires in conduit fiasco? Also, could you edit your profile to include a location? Makes it easier in several ways when we know members' general locations, thanks... Steve
Yes... progress (see pics here http://www.evergroove.com)! Rather than fight the Gestapo empty handed, we consulted a Master Electrician that really seemed to be on the ball. He had all but finished his EE degree and has spent a little time dabbling in medical laser design  We told him of the plan to install isolated ground receptacles and have a seperate, insulated ground, run from each IGR's ground screw back to an isolated ground bar in the panel. He said it wasn't necessary to go to that degree of detail. So, we installed 12/3 romex in the walls, daisy chained power, daisy chained the isolated grounds and daisy chained the safety ground. The isolated grounds went to their own ground bar in the panel and the safety (or 'dirty' as we started calling them) went to their own ground bar in the panel. The receptaces were indeed IGR style (pretty orange) and these were surface mounted into metal boxes. So the dirty grounds were connected to the metal boxes (as they should be!). The isolated grounds were NOT connected to these boxes. They we're instead connected to the ground screw on the IGRs. So far so good with the local building inspectors. Thanks for asking, by the way! It's good to be remembered  Do *you* have any tips for installing fabric? Keep up the good work. I'm real impressed with how this place has grown! Peace, Brad

The isolated grounds went to their own ground bar in the panel and the safety (or 'dirty' as we started calling them) went to their own ground bar in the panel. Unfortunately I see a lot of electricians (even engineers) who are really surprised to find that there really IS a difference in noise level when running separate, TRUE star ground systems; I hope you're not disappointed because it's not nearly as easy to do this AFTER the conduit/walls are in, if it's even possible at all. Keep your finger crossed, I'd really like to know the end result(actual noise floor) when you're there... Steve
Fabric update: We started wrapping our ridgid fiberglass yesterday. It was a little tricky at first, never having done it, but by the 10th panel we were rockin'. Steve: I should point out that many of the receptables in the control room that'll host the gear ended up being home runs so those are completely isolated. Where we ended up having many receptacles installed as I outlined above is in the live room. I have a feeling we'll be okay but I'd be happy to report back on noise floor, etc when we get everything setup and hummin'. I appreciate all your help! What an adventure this is  -Brad
