Hi John,
I was wondering what shade of blue you used on Blue Bear Sound Studio. I'd like to paint my one room studio that color.
Actually, I'm gonna go with the lamanate flooring and track lighting too.
(Oh yeah, and I'm buying a couple of lava lamps  )

Blue Bear Studio Color

Hi JOhn,
I was able to ge the color from Bruce from Blue Bear Sound. He provided me with the color name and color code. Kingdom Royaume - 58BB 12/390 I was fortunate enough to be able to find the color at our Home Depot here in Sydeny, N.S.
As you can see, my one room studio really needs a make over. Now that the rest of the house has newly painted walls and flooring, I figured it's time to give my little studio a make-over.
While I was in Sydney, I also picked myself up a Yamaha Rev 100. Haven't used it yet but it's going to replace my Peavy UNIVERB ll which is probably around 10 yrs old.
As is the tradition around here,
CHEERS!

Hi,
I've laid out the inside measurements of my one rom studio.
Perhaps you could offer some suggestions for a new layout for my renovation.
Also, should I insulate all the interior walls as well as double all the sheet rock to improve the soundproofing?
George
No suggestions huh?
Oh well, I thought I'd ask.
Cheers
Sorry mate I completely missed your post - you should have sung out sooner :D
I've got to run now but I'll get to it tomorrow.
cheers

I wanted to add that the closet space is 18" deep (inside to inside) and it's 60" wide. I'm planning on ripping it out to house my electronics, monitors, and computer.
Also, the deep freeze is gone and I may build a custom desk for my mixer and keyboard.
The window is going to get moved over directly across from the entrance so that I can have a better view of the lake in the back of my house. It will probably be only about 6" away from the wall.
Because I had a bathtub installed in our bathroom, we had to build out a 31 1/2" X 3" extension in the corner. This is the corner where the window will be moved over next to.
any suggestions would be great!

Just a bump cause I'm tearing out my closet and am looking for suggestions. From anyone actually. I'm hoping to use to use my closet corner to build an angled corner to house all of my electronics and tv monitor.
Bump,
I already added another layer of sheetrock, ripped out my closet and am going to put my "sound-prrof desk" in the closet.
My rack will installed inside the wall next to the desk.
I got it painted the same color as Blue bear sound and got my track lights installed and have recessed lights built in over where my "closet desk" will be.
To bad it's in the corner of the room. :(
Looking Good and i must say the new color definately brightens the room up quite a bit
I was goin to go with Laminate flooring in my one room studio, but after a house flood, I decided not to. I though installing carpeting would be a good idea, it's cheap, easy to install and remove if nessessary. Question: What sort of material should I install under the carpeting to help the soundproofing/accoustics?
Having gone through a minor flood situation myself just over a year ago which ruined the laminate flooring throughout half our home, I can understand the aversion to the product... Although that didn't stop us from putting new laminate down in the same places (except the kitchen and laundry room, where we opted to do ceramic tile).
Here are a few photos of the night of our water intrusion and the team of construction workers our builder dispatched to us that night. (The vinyl flooring was underneath the laminate planks.)
Consider ceramic tile. The cost isn't that far off that of laminate flooring, and it tolerates water much better. Carpet surely will not.
Remember that your baseboards and your walls probably won't survive a flood either.
I just wanted to show where I've situated my computer and equipment so far. In the near futre this desk will be replaced by a sound-proof desk which will house my computer. My mixer will then be moved into the area which was once a closet. I still need to get my flooring done and also my finishing. The painting is almost finished and needs to have another coat applied to the celing. I'll be asking for some help with the wiring and patching after I've decided where my rack uits will go. And yes, I do have my Lava lamp going.
Hope to post some more progress soon.

george - now you've got the floor and colour right perhaps you should look into the important factor - the acoustics??
cheers
john
Here's a new pic of my one room studio. I couldn't fit my Mackie HR824's in the closet area so I had to spin it around.
Regarding accoustics, I want to know what I can use Accoustic Ceiling tiles for besides ceiling tiles. They're the tstandard 2 X 4 ft panels. Does anyone out there have any plans for accoustic panels I could make with these. something that can be hung on the walls like a picture?
Cash is getting scarece as I've borrowed for lots of other toys outside of recording.
Thanks
George
That's gonna be better anyway; corners SUCK for reflections, etc... Steve
