hi,
i'mthinking of building a new studio, it is a free standing building in the yard so there are NO neighbours from any side.
the building is built very well with heating and so on. it is 5m x 20m and 3.70m high. a kitchen, wc and a small storage room are already built the rest is one room to be devieded and I'd love to hear your ideas!!!
thanks
new studio, please help with plans

here are short idea i had,
the cool thing is that i keep an option to get a room sound in the drum booth by miking the coridoor :D
by the way i forgot to say in the last post, the free space that left to build in is ca14m x 5.3m (this is exactly how wide is the all inner space) ceiling is 3.7m
Guy - first - check out Sonar Studios at this site

thanks John,
there are few things that i see in this designs that i want to ask:
1.the speaker are alway soffit mount, is it the only way to go in this sizes of control room? (my speakers are dynaudio bm15a, what do you think on soffit them?)
2. the transparent moving door is there in all your designs, very classy indeed but ain't it super expensive? not too reflective? really isolate as good?
3. in my studio right now i have a big room and i afraid i'll miss it in the studio, didn't you thought the drum both in my draw attached to the coridor is a nice solution (there will be a door there so one can decide if to record with the extra room or not),in the other hand i need one big space since i record a lot of string and small brass ensambles.
looking forward for replies
thanks a lot
guy
btw
my "design" was inspired from "left bank" but with a bigger room insteed of the piano booth
soffit mount is the best way to mount a speaker - I haven't tried the BM15a - maybe someone else on this site has tried it???1.the speaker are alway soffit mount, is it the only way to go in this sizes of control room? (my speakers are dynaudio bm15a, what do you think on soffit them?)
The sliding glass doors offer great communication/visual between rooms - provided they are placed correctly their reflections don't offer a problem - in fact they keep the highs moving in the room.2. the transparent moving door is there in all your designs, very classy indeed but ain't it super expensive? not too reflective? really isolate as good?
Yes - that's an interesting idea for gaining extra volume in the drum booth. Yes Left Bank is similar to Sonar. cheers john3. in my studio right now i have a big room and i afraid i'll miss it in the studio, didn't you thought the drum both in my draw attached to the coridor is a nice solution (there will be a door there so one can decide if to record with the extra room or not),in the other hand i need one big space since i record a lot of string and small brass ensambles.
thanks John,
I really appriciate your replies.
now few bassic questions more:
1 what about cieling? thedefult hight is 3.80m (i think) and doesn't have to be lower for isolations reasons (nobody is above the studio), how would you treat it? steep ceiling in control room ? how much?
2. can you please give the specs needed for the moving glasses ?
thanks,
guy
