This forum is full of great ideas. After browsing for a few days I've decided to try to realize my dream of having a studio in my basement. I've spent most of the day emtpying the basement. I can't believe all of the stuff I had down there. Anyways, the room is quite a bit smaller than I had hoped for. I was dreaming of having a control room + a liveroom large enough to record drums. The pciture below is a rough illustration of what the room looks like. The wall with the doors + the oposite wall is made of building blocks (or whatever you call it in English). The other two walls are made of wood panels. I'd apreciate any suggestions on how to make the most of the space I have. The dimensions are: 13'5"x11'. Floor to ceiling is 7'5".

Thanks for the suggestion! Looks good. To make matters worse, I need to soundproof both rooms. The main idea of the room is for me to have a space to work on my own music. I would like the opportunity to bring my band in to do some demos. I think maybe I should forget about making the 2nd room large enough for drums. I will be using a DAW. I could always put the drums in another room. I could use the 2nd room for recording vocals and guitars. I've learned from this forum that soundproofing will take quite a bit of room. I was thinking of using 2 sheets of plaster attached to a metal frame filled with rockwool --> air --> 2 sheets of plaster attached to a metal frame fille with rockwool. Will there be anything left of the room? :D
well it is in your basement so the main sound problems will be sound going up into the house. I assume the block walls are the border of your basement - is there soil behind that?? cheers john

Nope, there's no soil on either side. The doors lead to a hallway and the other half of my basement. The other wall faces my backyard. The room directly above is my son's bedroom. I know I'm asking a lot from such a small space. Thank you very much for helping me out!! Eivind
