I was reviewing a thread about colors and saw dk01 with a lot of great ideas. So I contacted him and asked for help. I hope it’s ok that I created a thread so others might be able to benefit from your advice.
Thanks for your help and I appreciate you taking the time to work with me. I am also partially colorblind so although I can’t see many colors I am hoping my subconscious will still pick up on them…along with others that come over to record
First let me give you the dimensions. The room is 12’ 3” long and 9’ 4” wide and 6’ 7” of height. There is an extra 2’ 4” on foundation side(has a closet in the pics) but I think there are pipes back there so I’m not going to count on that extra space till I get in there and start tearing it apart. The pics I took are of the room now, I’m about to rip out the crappy wood paneling. It also has a drop ceiling so I am going to dry wall all the walls and ceiling (unless you have a better idea). I would like to get some kind of carpet but it’s in the basement so worried about moisture, am also considering a big rug. The room is in the basement and it has 16.5 inch stone foundation. Suggestions on flooring?
I’m not going to be using my “studio” for professional things but more of a place to record my own songs and any of my bands songs. I write a lot heavy songs with drop tunings.
Warm and comfortable or natural and earthy is the feel I would like to have.

I am going to use lighting like this from Blue Bear where its on the wall and faces up. I do like the blue too
