Basement Studio: My live room has two adjacent concrete walls (we'll call them walls 1 & 2). Wall 3 is the double wall dividing the live and control rooms. Wall 4 is the side wall of the live room and on the other side is my shop area. My Questions: 1. On wall 4, do I NEED to have a double-wall here? Will the only reprocussion be noise in the shop area? 2. On the drawing, the red lines/arrows show the path the noise can travel towards the control room. Will this be a factor?

1. On wall 4, do I NEED to have a double-wall here? Will the only reprocussion be noise in the shop area? That, and possibly up the stairs; not sure what's there in the way of barriers, or if you care. 2. On the drawing, the red lines/arrows show the path the noise can travel towards the control room. Will this be a factor? Not much, if any; if you have each frame with wallboard only on one side, then between the CR and the Live room you still have a mass-air-mass situation. I've changed a couple of things on your drawing; note the walls NOT continuing on to the upper wall in the drawing; this will flank both of the CR walls into that common wall (and to each other) if not broken. Also, doing the vox booth as I redrew it will give better isolation; there would still be a section where, with the live room door closed, it would be triple leaf; this isn't necessarily a bad thing here, because even though 3-leaf walls suffer a bit on the low end, they actually are BETTER in the mids, where vox live...
