Basement Studio: My live room has two adjacent concrete walls (we'll call them walls 1 & 2). Wall 3 is the double wall dividing the live and control rooms. Wall 4 is the side wall of the live room and on the other side is my shop area. My Questions: 1. On wall 4, do I NEED to have a double-wall here? Will the only reprocussion be noise in the shop area? 2. On the drawing, the red lines/arrows show the path the noise can travel towards the control room. Will this be a factor?

Brad - you could make the wall with a resilient channel on the shop side that will work similar to a double wall. It depends on how much noise you are generating both in the studio and the shop area. The sound path from the studio to the control room is still a double wall - one studio wall and one control room wall. cheers john
Ok, ok, this is good....! It doesn't matter what kinds of noise get out into the shop - as nobody will be in the shop doing anything while we're recording. This is good - I'm saving on having to buy 2 more doors. Great! Check out my studio's progress - tell me what you think: two points though: 1. Vocal Booth is NOT done yet - hence not all walls are double. 2. "Braces" between my main double wall are to be removed - pointed out by KnightFly (Steve) http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1301.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1302.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1303.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1304.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1305.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1306.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1307.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1308.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1309.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1310.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1311.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1312.jpg http://www.bradjacob.com/images/IMG_1313.jpg
