Hello! I convinced my Mom the other day to let me build a studio in an unfinished portion of my basement   Right now its just a scribble on a piece of paper and dont plan on starting construction until my spring break, but getting a head start is always good for getting out bugs and stuff. I have about a 150 inch square room to work with (for a better idea look at the image) which should be plently big. I plan on using wood floors along with it. I had a few questions before configuring all out. I would like to incorporate built in 1/4 to help with the wire clutter across the room. I added up the cost using http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl ... er=248-126 and the total was 80 bucks plus 40 bucks for wireing throught the room where it was needed, that is a little spendy for me for un-needed stuff, but would be nice. Are there any similar to that but cheaper? Also do acoustic panels really make a big difference for reducing echos and improving overll sound? What a good (cheap) design for them? Thanks! Phil

Greetings, Phil! Welcome to the board. Be sure to thoroughly review the "Before You Post" post, which mentions the critical "Reference Area" post, as there is little we can do yet to offer any advice until you've gone through those and responded back with all the necessary preliminary information. The illustration looks very nice, by the way, so you definitely have a head-start in terms of use of a cool tool to use for your drawings. Good luck, and happy reading!
Hi Phil, I won't "welcome you to the board", because that's included in the link Kieth gave; part of "the drill" is to have you update your profile with a locatio, which you've not yet done - this will help in things like material recommendations; this is a worldwide resource and different parts of the world have VASTLY different costs and availabiliies. Just generally though, you'd be better off if you can buy a "project box" of the right size, and drill your OWN holes and buy BULK connectors - that way, you can custom-tailor it to YOUR needs... Steve Oh, alright, if yer gonna WHINE about it, WELCOME...
