Howdy!
I'm a videogame sound designer and have been building my room. Unfortunately, I found this site too late in my process. Here's my room so far . My original plan was to build a desk and install it where my desk is now in the picture. But I didn't think and now my speakers are jammed in the corners. Any ideas what I could do to make this work? I'm starting to do a bunch of 5.1 mixing.....
The voice over booth is a double walled floating floor. The machine closet is there because of a sump pump in the floor. The bathroom was already plumbed. The ceiling is 8 foot and the duct in the middle of the room hangs down 11 inches. I have a bunch of Roxul to make the traps, line the booth, and build a cloud.
Thanks for your time! This site is a goldmine of info.

You 've built yourself into a corner haven't you :)
Is there any way that you can remove the machine closet?? I know the sump pump is there but if you could cover it and continue the desk across the whole width of the room it would be a beter way to start ;)

Wow! Fast reply!
Well, yes we could, but dang, I just built the thing! Maybe I could hack it off down to desk level and make it a small storage cabinet. Don't know if I would have enough room for my computers in there with an exhast fan. Could probably work it out.
My other thougth was to put a bench seat under the window and turn my desk against the right wall. But the uneven celing frightens me. Also probably too shallow for 5.1...
So if I knocked out the closet, what do you suggest?
Thanks,
Tom
well if you did that you could have our speakers properly spaced and firing down the length of the room - the best way - yet still be able to visually see into the booth - which you couldn't do if you setup against the right wall.
Build a puter cupboard under the desk like you said.
