I'm in the process of turning a 31'x15' in my basement into a "real" home studio. As you can see by the attached jpg created in Sketchup that there already is a door and window in place. I would like to keep the door where it is because it's at the very bottom of my stairs and moving it would would make it difficult to maneuver. However if there is no other way around it, I could move the door 1'-7' to the right. After looking at some of the designs in here, I decided I liked Cloud and Sonar (including Sonar's alternate layout). I am usind a DAW and will mostly be doing rock acts (guitar, bass, drums, vox). I live in suburban Philadelphia and will be doing all of the work myself. I have a bunch of cubicle walls that I got from an old employer. I was thinking about removing the insulation from them to use as acoustical treatments. Has anyone ever done this? Finally, I am just looking for ideas on how to arrange the studio, any input would really be appreciated. Thanks, Vince

How many rooms do you want? You could enter into the back of the control room through the door then have a larger room on the left and a smaller room on the right? I dunno, just throwin ideas out. ~Space
I was thinking something along the lines of this. Basically it's the Sonar design shortened to fit my area. You'll have to pardon my artwork. I am far from good at Sketchup. I eye balled the Soffits, etc. so they will need some tweaking. I wasn't sure how to handle the upper right hand corner. Any one have any ideas? I'm not sure what I should do with my ceiling. Currently I have a drop ceiling with 8" insulation above. If I remove the drop ceiling and put up drywall up, the ceiling will be a little under 7'. Thanks in advance!!! Vince
