Hello all, I excuse me in advance for my bad English. I hope you can understand me. i want to build a studio in an old small carpenter workshop. I do not have the exact measuring data, but I have the qm of the rooms. So I only need a approx... idea how i arrange the rooms. In the first picture you see the "naked" rooms with all solid walls i can´t change. The holes in the walls are doors. The "black bordered" holes are windows, but in the studio area there are only roof lights..... The office and the entrance door i would not like to change. Also the little kitchen and the toilet should be unchanged. The "thing" on the left side of the 45 qm area is a supporting column which I also cannot change. The ceiling high is 2,7 Meter and its a flat roof. So i have this 45 qm Area for the Studio "komplex" and a little corridor to the kitchen and toilet. What I need is a 1. control room, where i can mix Stereo and 5.1 material. The boxes dont must be suffit mounted. Especially the 5.1 ones can stand free... And 2. a recording room, where I can record voc/drums/ etc... I don´t need a recording room for a complete band.... If its possible to build a little vocal booth and a litlle recording room it would be perfect! But one room is sufficient. In the second picture I have drawn my little idea, but i am not happy with it, cause of this strange recording room. I would be very very happy, if you can give me some advice. If someone can show me a better way i would be very happy. If you have questions, ask!!! Thanks a lot regards Hendrik Picture 1:

Hi John, thanks for your answer! I don´t have a better drawning, but I can give you the dimensions. They are not exact, but near to.... I hope it helps....

Looks like a door or window between the office and the rest - maybe knock it out and use it for the entrance like this? cheers john

Thank you very very much John!. Thats soooo cool! Your drawning is my "entrance" to this strange building! Is it possible, that you give me the smartdraw file, so I can play a little bit around your idea and thean post it and you give me some comments? Your drawning is perfect for me, but I want to play a little bit with the recording rooms... btw. When I only want 1 recording room, is there a chance to make the control room bigger? cause mostly I am in there.... :D But its more than perfect like this now!!!! Thanks a lot Regards Hendrik
here you go :) cheers john

cool! Thank you very much.... I will post some Ideas later.... Regards Hendrik
Hi, I bought this house!...:-) Now I have the exact plan: The "grey" walls are concret. So i can´t change.... Also this 2 concret "supports" (one between the Recording and control room and one in the mschine room) cannot be changed.... You can see the "reference" wall to scale it with 3,87 Meter. The celling high is 2,6 meter. It´s a realy strange building, and I have no idea how to realise my studio. I draw a little idea, but i am not happy with it. The problem is, that i want to have a surround control room with a distance from me to the speakers at minimum 1,9 - 2 meters. The position of the surround Left and right must be posible at 110 degree and 135 degree. I don´t want to soffit my surround speakers. It must also be possible to go from the buisness entry to the toilet without going through the control or recording room, so I need a little corridor. And it must be possible to go to the door to my privat house. I don´t need a big recording room, but it must be possible to record a drum set or 3 string players. I don´t realy need a machine room. A recording and a control room is enough.... But the important room is the control room. I am working all day in it....:-) I hope you (john) can help me a little bit. It would be very very nice.... (I can offer a good bottle of red wine...:-)) Kindest regards Hendrik
This is the only way I can fit it cheers john

Hi Jhon, thats a cool Idea. Thanks John! But i dont want to soffit the speakers, so is it possible to have a little more space in the control room especialy in the Rear? If I dont want my special System (the possibility to use 110 and 135 Degree), is there a better way to design this surround control room If you can make it like you want?.... :D Any advice and Ideas are really wellcome John. PLay with this room, if you want...:-) Thanks in advance. Hendrik
mate - I've played with your room enough - IT's now up to you to make some decisions. cheers john

Hi John, you are right. Sorry.... One question before I post a new plan. If i decide to not soffit the surround speakers, would it be a big "mistake" to let the support beam stand in the control room? I can build drywalls around, so the "Room in a room" system will not be affacted and I would put a lot rockwool around at the inner room side. The thing is, that I want the control room as big as possible. Best Hendrik
I see no problem with a beam in the control room if you want a bigger room. Just deaden it so it doesn't reflect sound around the room. cheers john
