Currently I have a fellow forumite Brady from washington state who is visiting for awhile. Last night we were playing with his mac laptop and using the inbuilt mike to measure the resonate frequency of a wine bottle - it was 118hz. a 2 litre plastic coke bottle was 94hz. So if you have finished your wine, fill it with some insulation and you'll have a 118hz absorber. Just trying to help the aussie wine industry :) cheers john
i wonder what a Buckfast bottle would work out at...any excuse to swally the tonic!
How about a 1 L beer bottle? Or how about 12 oz? I could easily fill a studio with those.
well I figure that if you get a variety of bottles of differing size then stack them against the wall you will end up with a large resonator/diffusion wall. When the bottles are stacked the gaps between each bottle will also act as a resonator. :D cheers john
If you laid the bottles on their side with the spouts pointing out, would that still act as a resonator? That would look kewl... 8) Just take all the beer bottles, 12, 16 and 40, after construction of yer studio and stack em all up for the killa diffusor/absorber! :D Recycling at its best... Hell, put some tube lighting in and around it for another kewl effect! Whoa, I'm on a roll... Gotta get another cold one... -ashley
ashley - don't drink it all because if you leave a bit in the bottom, a different amount for each bottle, they will all have different rensonate frequencies. I figure that expansive foam filler that comes in a pressure pak would work as the insulation. cheers john
that would be one funky smelling control room
