hi there !
Thanks for all your support, that you gave me over the last months indirectly by writing in this forum. :D
But now I also got a little challenge for you
the goal is to convert an existing living room into a little studio.
most time I am sitting in front of the monitors and producing electronical music. The little extra recording room is needed for recording vocals, guitars, flutes and such.No drums, amps or other loud instruments will be recorded there.both rooms already have a laminated floor.Ceiling height is 2,40 meter.I am only renting this place so no big changes are possible :(
first these are the empty rooms. As you can see both have a wall with big glass windows which are my main problems. All doors are needed there.I asked to remove to middle wall but not possible

And this is my first try :
- The light blue is a rear wall absorber with no slats over the whole back wall.
- The dark green things are corner absorbers. What you think ? Would be the ones described at Johns page be large enough ? ( 24" * 22" )
- The red is a book case with an open back.I need something to store the books and i thought it would perhaps act like a rear diffusor.
- The light green are angled side wall absorbers with slats to minimize side wall reflections. But I dont know if they would help in that place or if they are useless.
- The front wall is built as a big window which i really need sometimes when using the room as a living room.So the yellow line is a big Stage mol clay / curtain which is very dense and for critical listening i could simply do it it front of window. And when not needed I could simply move it beside.I also had in mind some variable gobo´s...

this is what I thought... but maybe someone got a better ideas or some ideas to improve the layout ? Would really appreciate it :D
Sorry for bad english I am only German

Hi Heiko - I said in another thread that a bokcase will absorb bass - how much?, I'm not sure. YOur layout looks fine and is possibly the only way to go in your room. I'd go for a deader rear wall - maybe you could hang another curtain across the back??
cheers

Hello People :-)
Lasted a while but seems its going forward now.Just wanted to know some of your oppinions.
At first thanks John for looking at my design. Would be possible to do curtain on the back too,but I am a bit scared of the look :-) l hoped the idea of a simple rear wall absorber would be enough..
So here are my new pictures and ideas..
At first please have a look how it looks now : (sorry for the mess, just moved in :-))
So here you can see the front with the big,big windows and the door to outside :

Under this window there is also a large heater :

Looking from the door towards the second window. Also with a heater but this one is always off :

Simply the door and as you can see laminated flooring :

Now I thought a bit and here is an example of how I imagined the final one.Currently some new furniture is made for the gear so please only judge the sound treatment :

Was not possible to draw the curtain in front of the big glass window-door but hope you can imagine :-) Also the bookcase with open back will be there in the back behind the couch. On the back you can see the standart rear wall absorbers without slats and two corner wall absorbers with slats as John´s wall units. And further more two side wall absorbers with slats.
In the front I drawed some reflectors which are angled to break up paralell walls.Simply because they are much cheaper and easier to build than angled side wall absorbers
But I am still unsure about :
- Do you think would be better to do corner and sidewall absorbers also without slats to improve absorption (only 3 meters from mix postion to back) ?
- Do you think it would be better to do Sidewall absorbers in front instead of reflectors ?
- I am thinking about an angled ceiling cloud above mix position to improve sounding.Whats your oppinion ?
Please help a newbie :-)
Greetz,
Heiko
