8) anyone out there looking to buy any rack mount furniture, i highly suggest building them yourself! what would probably cost $300.00 or so cost me all of about $75.00 !!! i bought a 4x8 piece of cabinet grade oak plywood from lowes ($45.00) and stain, and polyurathane ($16.00) 2 sets of rack rails around $20.00. out of that i got 2 rack mount cabinets each able to hold up to 8 pieces of gear in the top, and 2 power amps (or 4 more pieces of gear) in the bottom! this what my son, and i came up with in about 4 hours!!!

Pretty nice work there, O' Gregg Of Unknown Origin! I especially like the dog head in one of the pictures -- I hope there's a dog body attached to it! The more photos I see of peoples' handiwork, the more inspired I become. Thanks to all who take the time to share.
8) hey sharward, thanks for the compliment!! it really means alot to someone who's usually all thumbs when it comes to something like this. and yes there is a body attached to the dog head, about 70lbs. worth. that's my golden retriever Savannah!! thaks again, gregg
Looks great! Two thumbs up!! :D
Congratulations - it always feels good to build something of your own - One thing you may want to add to your racks while they still look square - some sort of corner bracing - otherwise, the first time someone leans on them from the side you'll have a rhombus. I know the gear itself will add some stiffening, but it's much better if the box can stay square on its own - If you don't want to use wood (a 6-inch wide piece of ply across the bottom rear, held in with screwed/glued cleats will work) you might look for http://doityourself.com/store/6792261.htm Either way, doing this will keep your racks looking good for a lot longer...
