Hello John and everyone else :)
I've attached some drawings of the elevation of CR.The 2nd one shows just the walls and ceiling (basically the inner leaf of mass) and the 1st one is trying to make the ceiling symetrical. Would it be ok to just have the RED LINE in the drawing as a false ceiling and make the BLUE AREA a large absorber, or would I have to follow the line of simetry with my inner leaf of mass all the way.in other words, would it hurt to have one side of vaulted ceiling as stiff mass and the other as an absorber? :?
If it was ok to just treart the BLUE AREA as an absorber what would you use?A light plywood cover (the RED LINE) and some absorbent on top of it (to create a large panel resonator) or just a broadband absorber (BLUE AREA) covered with cloth (RED LINE)? If you chose the second option, how would it behave in combination with the other side of the ceiling considering that the other side is just a hard surface?
Or, yet another question  , what would be a good way to make the ceiling symetrical and have both sides of it treated equally?
Thanks a lot...if you need more info, please let me know!
cheers :)

A large panel absorber or broadband....

sen - how does this area relate to the rest of your treatment? like where are your monitors and what other treatment do you have?
cheers

Hi john,
I know , i know.... pretty stupid of me not to tell you first what exactly you're looking at.Sorry!
Ok: the drawings show the width of the room (about 4.5 m) and the length is/will be about 6.8 mtrs.Sitting at the mix pos. facing the monitors, the side of the ceiling in question will be to my left. The ceiling height is 3.6 mtrs @ the walls and peaks up to 4.6 m in the middle.I will keep the vaulted ceilings and add appropriate treatment. The room hasn't been built yet but the bottom drawing is the bare plan I wanna go by,and then making the ceiling symetrical as shown in the top drawing.
The monitors will be soffit mounted. The treatment will include standing wave absorption (most likely just chunks of r/wool) in most of the corners (probably including the apex of the room). Some slot resonators are an option along the front half of splayed side walls, depending on how it will sound after installing the broadband absorption. The floor will most probably be timber in the front half of the room (just passed the mix pos.) and carpet in the back half.
The mix pos. will be @ approx. 2.5 mtrs from the front wall.
By my calcs, the length of the room seems to be ok (or is it? :? ) to utilize some rear wall diffusion so that might be an option, again depending on what I get after treating the most of the obvious areas (corners, ceiling etc.)
To be honest, I'm still not quite sure if I would be better off just killing all the early reflections, or taking a bit of an RFZ approach with these sort of dimensions. :?
Any suggestions would be great!! John please let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know. :)
Thanks a lot
cheers
bump!!
sorry just to try one more time
thanks :)
