that's my question . This is for jamming rooms only, NO recording studio...
Amp and drum riser will work like a floating floor?

Yeah, pretty much - but only where the riser is; it won't help sounds made in other parts of the room from escaping. But for practice rooms, it should be good - main thing besides good isolation, if you want a waiting list for your rooms, is make them SOUND good; no cheesy carpet, no foam, just rockwool across the corners and hung from the ceiling, and all three dimensions of each room NOT the same as any other dimension - simplest way to get close is to make all 3 dimensions of a room odd-numbers of feet, like 9-11-13, 7-9-11, etc - not sure if this also works for meters, so you'd need to convert feet to meters... Steve
converting into metric system:
9' ------ 2.7432
11 ----- 3.3528
13----- 3.9624
15 ----- 4.572
17 ------5.1816
In metric odd numbers
3 meter ------ 9.84 feet
5 meter ------ 16.4 feet
7 meter ------ 22.96 feet
My rooms are 3 meter x 5 meter x 2'60 high
There were good sizes??
Not too bad, but a small modal gap around 80 hZ - if you would shorten from 5 meters to 4.5 meters without making the rooms too cramped inside, they would sound better a bit; for practice though, maybe the space is more important for moving around... Steve
Hi Knightfly!
This is my first post in this awesome forum that I have just had the pleasure to know.
I am in the process of building a control room and a jamming/live room.
For the control room, I am using the ratio 1:1,14:1,39 (hope it is OK). Dimensions would be: Height 2,70m; Width 3,10m and Length 3,75m. Floor will have to be a thin carpet.
For the jamming room (wooden floor), I have 2 options:
a) Height 2,70m; Width 4,20m and Length 9,30m
b) Height 2,70m; Width 5,70m (I am widening it from option a) and Length 9,30m
Which option would you prefer? Are these dimensions reasonable or do I need to adjust them?
Shall I build a little stage for the drum set (what dimensions you suggest)?
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Daniel
Hai Manana,
Steve isn't an active member of this forum no more (despite the fact he's still a Mod.... yeah, I know)
May I suggest opening a new topic under "studio design" and add as much info 'bout ye plans as possible. Ask your specific questions there. Might have a better response then...
cheers and welcome ;)
