This is my first post after throughly checking out this great website. I'm turning my 2nd floor room above my garage into a project studio area. I would like to keep the space as open as possible to enjoy the views and keep a more casual feel during sessions. The space is currently 2X6 framed with a bathroom and closet. The exterior is vinyl sided over tongue and groove 5/8" plywood. I've got a lot on good information on construction techniques for myself, and my contractors from your site. However, I need expert advise on whether I can keep the space open or if we should build separate rooms within the existing area.
I would really appreciate any thoughts and or suggestions on this subject. I've included a plan showing the space as it is currently laid out. And one with a rough idea for two rooms. There's no insulation or sheetrock on any of the walls or ceiling at this time. The room dimensions are 26'-6" by 26'. The room is facing south where the patio door is. Ceiling truss height is 10' in the center of the room and tapers down to 8'-6" on the outside north and south walls. I record a lot of Blues based, Hard Rock bands. So, I'm looking to keep drums and loud amps under control within this space. Thanks in advance and I look forward to using your site in the future!
