Heya Folks! I just foun this excellent site last night and I haven't been able to leave in in the past 24 hours...LOL Awesome stuff here all! Ok here is my project. I just bought my folk's house out in the country and it has a 3 bay garage and I want to make the 3rd bay into a jam/recording studio. I am not sure how to go about attacking it. Here are the rough details: all cinderblock with 2 windows and a garage door that will be replaced. 26'x 12' with 12' rafter ceiling. The floor is just bumpy blacktop... It will be used for live band practice and recording of all instruments and I am not sure what kind of treatment to use considering that I am using it for both loud live band and recording.. Any thoughts I would love to hear. Oh and I did read tons of the other posts..none exactly what I was looking for unfortunately. thanks in advanced gang. -Upstate NY Tom
i suppose you really have to consider "what is a band rehearsal room?" In my experience people who go to the trouble of building a studio with a control room and live room end up rehearsing in the control room with the drummer in the studio and the doors open ;) everyone plugs into the console and listen through the monitors. Something you may wish to consider. ;) cheers john
Ah sure..the poor drummer is left all to his lonesome!..LOL LOL I am the drummer..heh heh. that is a thought John. thank you very much for the idea. I am just concerned about having enough space for everything. I am just getting into recording so I do not need anything fancy. I am going to subframe the floors and walls. I was wondering also how to handle the ceiling? Should I put up drywall or something else? thanks again for the fast response! This place is great! -Upstate NY Tom
