Hey, whats up!? This is my first post, and I have been "surfing" the forums for a couple days now... I really like what I read. Anyways, I am having some difficulties when I record guitar/vocals/ect.
My digital workstation is the BOSS BR-1180CD, and I have it connected to two personal computers, both with ACID 4.0/SOUND FORGE 6.0 installed. I rarely record directly into the computer because the fan on the computer makes a lot of noise which is "picked-up" by my microphone.
I use a NADY TCM 1050 Tube Condenser michrophone to record just about anything I do; acoustic guitar, vocals, ect. I don't have a band, so most of the time it is just me recording with no drums. I am not out to get a "totally-professional" sound, but I am almost positive that I can get better quality recordings.
I am very new to the whole acoustics thing, but I think my room is very "live," if thats what you call it. My main problem is that my microphone "picks-up" the noise created by the BOSS CR-1180CD. There are various effects in the BOSS to reduce certain noise, but then the recordings seem too "dead."
So... I guess my question is how to reduce the noise being picked up by my microphone. Also, is there any way to reduce the "LIVELYNESS" of the room. I am very new to the whole BASS catcher thing and placement... and stuff like that.
Sorry if my question seems too vague, but I'm kind of stuck. What I would really like is for Mr. Sayers to design a nice size studio in my backyard, fully equipped...
Thanks in advance, NICK
