Cap a Triangular roof or let it be? What about the joists?

A room that is 15' 5" x 41' 4". The peak of the roof is in the center of the 15' 5" dimension. Athe the edge of the wall the roof begins its pitch at about 5' 6" into the center. The joists that would mount the ceilling start at ruffly 7' 6". The roof continues past these joists to the center of the room and Peaks at ruffly 9 - 10 feet I think, although it might be 12'. (forgot to measure that one). If I want to have a good control room I will need 2,500 cubic feet. That what I read anyways. To reach this I think I need to not put a ceilling in but just sheet rock the roof to the peak. However, that would still leave the joist beams connecting the roof. How would that affect the sound in the room? What would I have to do with them to improve the over all sound? Thanks
If you would post a drawing that would help a lot. Ten people looking at one thing will describe it eleven differnt ways with words. Figuratively; Andre
Sure thing.

Great stuff!

Not much effect on the acoustics, assuming no isolation issues through the ceiling. Still have to address early reflections etc. They would provide a nice ambiance and volume for control room. Have you considered going with 3500 ft^3? That is the nominal size in various standards for control rooms. A quick overview with 5.1 focus is in: AES TD1001 It sounds like it will be a lovely space. Keep us updated! Andre
Say Avare, do you think I can get by without putting up a wall to seperate the roof peak poking out the middle of the room? I would perfere that because the room has a really nice open feel to it now. Thanks

Depends on the dimensions and what you want from the space. Off hand, with proper layout, geometry and treatment, probably. I should become a politician with all those qualifiers for an equivocal answer. :D Maybe, or maybe not; Andre
Avare, I've really been struggling trying to figure out a lay out that I feel good about and that other people don't hate. :) People just tell me to start over. I perfere though to try to understand whats wrong and firt see if I can't change it bit by bit. Anyways, I'm going to show you some pictures and your likely going to follow suit with the others. Its okay though, I'm getting use to it. The first picture is an achitechture program drawing. You'll see a bunch of stuff in the control room that you might not think belong there. But for now, lets just pretend that those things are there for storage, so if you referre to them, do so like "this object is creating bad waves or this is helping defuse the wave. Secondly is an extreamly ruff drawing of the floor beneath this room. People think the floor is going to caulapse, and who knows, maybe it is. :) I put this here because I don't know exactly where the supports are, but I suspect they are in the walls around the kitchen and bathroom. For what its worth, There is about 3 feet of sheet rock thats been sitting up there flat on the floor over the right room (no walls underneath to support it, just floor) and its been there for 30 years no problem. Maybe you will know where the supports would be. Finally I have an updated ruff drawing of the first picture. Though it may be hard to tell I have made the Live room 1-2 feet bigger and swapped the two middle rooms around. This works well to cover a tube vent that runs through the room to the roof. The bigger room will be the dead room now so I don't creep myself or others by haveing them sing in a small room. The smaller room could be used as a convienent microphone closet. Okay :) thats it .... for now. If theres a problem, which everyone tells me there is, please help be understand exactly what it is. For example if I don't have an angle right or if it looks like the control room will not be symetrical enough throw out an idea to correct it. I know thats alot to intake, but I appreciate it. Youve been very helpful. And I'm reading as much as I can about accustics. I printed all the pages. Know that I am trying. Stuburn but trying. :) Thanks
