I have a 20x16x9 (lxwxh) room. The Control room will be 11 feet x 16 feet, and the live room will be 9 feet x 16 feet. My band has been using the room as a rehersal space. but i want to turn it into a small recording studio. I have attached a drawing of what i would like it to look like. In addition to the drawing I was thinking about using a suspended grid ceiling, which would bring the ceiling height down to 8 feet. The room is not sheet rock, it is plywood paneling. Because it is a small room i would like to waste as little space as possible. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Trey

John, Thanks for the help. I have a few questions about the design. First, what are the areas shaded in brown, (bass traps, slot resonators, bass hangers?). What should the wall with the speaker soffit mounts be treated with (slot resonators, sheetrock, or does it matter?) how would you recommend treating the walls of the live room. Is it necessary to treat the left control room wall? Thanks for all your help. Trey
hey john could you please give more dimensions for this drawing as in the size of the rooms e.g front and back of control room. thank you.
Trey - all your questions are answered on this forum over and over. Click on the JOhn Sayers Productions logo in th eupper right corner and go to The Recording Manual and the Studios under construction sites and read and read read. Miks - if you download the demo of smartdraw you will be able to open the smartdraw file I posted and get every measurement. cheers john
can someone tell me what angle the room is set at? Are the angles all 6 degrees?
