is rockwool the same as roxul mineral wool?
Yes. Mineral wool is the generic term used in North America for insulation made from minerals that are not silicon. Rockwool was a trademarked word for mineral wool owned by the company that is now named Roxul. Other trademarked names for mineral wool include Thermafiber and Fibrex. It is like: Kleenex = facial tissue paper Aspirin = ASA Sharpie = felt tip marker Rockwool = mineral wool To help confuse matters, in Europe, silicon based insulation (fiberglas, another trademarked word) is included in the phrase mineral wool. I hope this clears it up a bit. Andre
