Cool stuff! They're really into those big perforated panels... wonder what the physics is behind that stuff. They're not helmholz resonators... the perforation must be calculated by what freqs they want reflected.
Ah - so that's the source of those things - Notice Studio 301 is listed - that's Tom Misner's (SAE Head) studio in Sydney and it has those things in the ceiling. He also has used them here in Byron Bay at his new headquaters.
They are not helmholtz as they are open at the back - I just assumed they were decorative.

They do look pretty cool. I'm sure you could engineer the hole size, location, and numbers to reflect some frequencies and pass others thru (there's several different combinations on some of the live room pictures) but all in all it may just be for visual effect.
We spend so much time engineering acoustics and we forget to enjoy things for how they look!
...well, maybe it's just me.
