I work for a school and we will be moving our current studio equipment into a room that is smaller than current, (the rooms are bascailly 2nd floor office type rooms) but has much better isolation, as playground/student noise is a bit of a problem. I've been reading these forums for a while and thought i would post to get some ideas on how we could lay out our equipment. At the moment the equipment consists of..
Makie 24*8 Console, Protools LE Rig, 16track 1" Tape Machine and about 10-15 outboard units.
I have drawn up the dimensions of the room but don't really know where to get started placing things in it. I know the control room is much bigger than the recording space but we dont have a huge budget for sealing the windows that run across the length of the room so the inner room was chosen instead!
Any suggestions anyone can care to give would be much appreciated!!

the wall you've labeled 'proposed window' - is that an existing wall and if so is it load bearing? - i.e. does it hold up an upper floor?
cheers

thankyou for the reply john,
from what i have been told by the architecht, no.. most of the inner rooms each side of the main corridor have walls only to divide them up, the rooms are currently two practise rooms i'm pretty sure the walls were put in not too long ago to make more divisions, so cutting a hole in it or knocking it down shouldn't be too much of an issue...
sorry i could use a proper cad program to make the diagram, couldn't find any for the mac... the diagram is almost to scale, as much as i could do with photoshop
