hi everybody!
I'm a spanish member, and I'm projecting a new recording studio but my english is not enough for specific term used in this site.
If there is someone who understands spanish I'll great him at all.
going to my question...there are any topic about using sand on the floating floor?
Is the more cheap and efective way for the floating floor?, I don't have much money and I build it over "hormigon" floor.
thanks
new in this site

Hugo, welcome; we will do what we can to make things clear for you; and if any spanish speaking members can help with terms, even better. One nice thing about using pictures and drawings is that less words are needed for understanding.
Before you ask about floating floors, it would be better to find out just how much sound proofing you NEED - things like how loud the neighbors are, how loud and what kind of music you record, what kind of building you want to make your studio in, and things like that.
If you don't know those things yet, look around at what others are doing and ask questions - the more you learn before you start to build, the more you will like the results.
We can start with me trying to figure out what is "hormigon" - anybody have an idea here? Steve

a firend of mine, told me about using wet sand between the pieces of wood on the floor and then fit plastic sheets on the sand and ceiling it with a mixture of sand and concrete or cement (this is the name in english for HORMIGON  ) and then, 1/2 " carpet.
Is recomended?
OK, so hormigon = concrete; I just increased my Spanish vocabulary from 6 words to 7 - sure glad you have much more English than I have Spanish, or we would be in trouble here
If you have no neighbors, and don't care about the sound getting into your house, then building a floated floor will only help if you want to build separate rooms for your studio - the extra separation will let you hear instruments only from your mics instead of through the walls, so you can hear what the instruments will sound like on the recording.
We will need LOTS more information on your needs, budget, number of rooms, building experience and tools you have to use - if you're not sure about what you want yet, look around this site at all the plans and find one that comes close to what you want, and we can go from there... Steve
so, you recomended me, building a floating floor?? only in the recording room, or control room too?
soon I'll give you LOTS of info about my project
There's no hurry, Hugo - check your thread in the Construction forum, it may help you with translation... Steve
