Hi guys! I´m about to begin my studio, and this is the design. I know that this is not ideal, but i want to get the best of that... I have 2 questions regarding this design... Q1. I know the control room is tiny, do i need to make bass traps and difusors or simple put some fiberglass on corners? Q2. Can anyone give an idea for the recording room, to break parallels. Thank you, J.

I'd start with just putting fibreglass (rigid stuff) in he corners and your rear wall. Just doing that will make a tremendous difference. As for your studio area why not build some of the angled absorbers here. http://johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm cheers john
Great advice John! I´ll keep it on mind... any other idea for control or recording room? Thanks!
Julian, this looks very similar to the design I'm working on for my own studio. Interesting how you've got the control room at a right angle to the rec room. I guess that allows for a rec room/control room passage. Cool. What kind of wall construction are you gonna use for isolation? Humm
Humm, i´m working on my insulation plan. I posted my design at the Construction Forum, the tread is called "Wall insulation proyect... advice is welcome!" Check out Knightfly´s tips, they are really usefull! Let me know what you think!
John, i´ll make some corner absorbers...but i have a couple of questions... Can i just put some fiberglass (not rigid) inside them or i have to glued it to the slats? I mean, i have fiberglass from my walls, so it would be great to use the cut-offs... I´m supposed to put as many fb as i can (like pushing it)? In the pics you recommend to use 50, 75 and 100 mm slats... should i put one of 50, one of 75, one of 100 and then start oveR? Is really necesary to make it airtight? Thanks!
Hi Julian, i was told one time that a hole that is 1% of the total surface area of the structure (be that structure a wall, door, window, panel resonator, bass trap) will reduce the soundblocking capability of the structure to 10%! Maybe the percentage numbers are not exactly on the mark, but the point is that even tiniest of holes will completely wreck the isolation. Airtight is the only way to go. David
Hi Sunnburst! Thanks for the tip! I for sure will remember that! Any idea about the other questions?
John, do u think that i should build one of your absorbers (the showned below) and make it mobile to break parallels during mixing, and taking it to the live room when recording... what do you think? Thanks!
