Hello all,
This is my first post but I've been visiting this forum for a while. By far one of the best resources out there. Thank you.
I guess first off, I've had this room(30'x30') for a few months now and have been researching constantely on how to build my studio.
As of now, the room is nothing except outside walls. 8" cynderblock 2' high around entire perimeter and 2x4 walls 7' high on that for a total 9' walls.
I'm planning on a second inner wall around the perimeter.
The 3 rooms inside I'm leaning towards 8" cynderblock(filled solid) and then 2x3x9 strips inbetween the sheetrock and block.
The windows will be:CR the 3 angled walls opposite back corner. Vocal and drum booths are the front walls opposite back corners.
The monitors in the CR will be inwall above the windows angled down at mix possition.
The 2 small circles are metal beams supporting the second floor(nothing more than storage).
The only things that can't be moved are the stairs and chimney.
I've drawn up more floor plans than I can count and would really like to make this one work.
The scale is 1 square=1 foot.
I did these by hand(have a mac and no descent architecture software. I spend all my money on equiptment'')so please bear with me.
Any help, suggestions or insults would be greately appreciated.
Again thank you.
Will this design work?

first off I'd consider swapping the control room and drum room in your plan. Then you can reach the top of the stairs and enter the control room directly without going through the studio.
cheers

Thank you for your reply, John.
Sorry bout that. I should have been a little more specific. The studio is on the ground floor and the entrance is between the CR and Vocal booth. The bottom of the stairs is next to the chimney and the top is over the drum room.
I figured on putting the entrance on that side because that is the driveway side(just for ease of hauling in/out equipment).
Besides the 90 degree angles I forgot to get rid of in this drawing are the shapes of these rooms all right or should I just start over and go with something alittle more like the SAE plans?
I would like to have as live and good sounding rooms as I can with the small space I have to work with.
Again thank you very much for your time
Chris
