Hello! I'm about to buy a pair of ADAM S3-A and want to improve my control room. The idea is to prevent the Resonance mid-low freq's. And to get the optimal sound picture for mixing. My friend wrote to me: quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hitphy, better make sure ur room is fine b4 pouring this kind of money . This speaker's extended low end response will emphasize the problems of a less-then adequate room rather than solve them. The room-speaker combo is like 1 giant instrument. Changing speakers is like changing the strings on an acoustic gtr, or the p/u on an electric - it takes 2 2 tango. I've been wandering 4 years between rooms with my personal monitors, active and passive- they all sounded good in good rooms, worse in bad rooms. The 1st step is always 2 realize what type of room U r in. In bad rooms I work @ very low volume, I mono a lot and check the low end in the car, not in the room. I guess that working in a single room all the time (as most project studio owners do) may lead 2 the wrong conclusions in this matter. Peace, Zooot -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the room.... sorry about the hebrew  i'll translate... the numbers are in centimeters. the right and the left white spots is windows and all the rest are doors. Acoustic Treatment = A wall to wall carpet. 9 centimeters Gray foam , about a 20 meters of it. So , i'm going to re-design my room. i'm gonna put some 17mm wood plates at the walls and the foams over the wood. Plus i'm going to build a bass traps. Check this Draw (the re-design): The yellow is wood. The red is foams. And the corners is bass traps (from floor to ceil) What do you think?? Does the 17mm of wood plates will make it any better ? What about the ceil? do i need to put some foams above the monitors ceil? Any advice? Thanks!
