:?:I have a room over my garage and I want it to become my studio space. Dimensions: 26' X 18' At 6' inside the 26' dimension the ceiling is at 3' and at the other end 8'. At the centre the ceiling is at 14'. I can't seem to find any design that fit or could be addapted to my dimensions. :?: :?:
We'd need a lot more info on your existing to help much - can you do a basic drawing, showing the side elevation as you described and the area you consider usable floor space? If you're on a PC, you can use the paint program if nothing else is available - you can even do scale drawings if you pay attention to the coordinates display in the lower right corner of the screen - holding the Shift key while drawing lines with the line tool forces either horizontal, vertical, or 45 degree angles, for example. If you can describe the existing construction as if you were going to build it yourself (lots of details) we can help you figure out something... Steve
The studio will be over the garage. This is an addition to the house, garage and studio. Outer walls are 2X6 studs, floorings 2X10. Vaulted ceiling. If at all possible, I'd like to have a control room + another room. Stairs will be the access to the studio from the garage. Thanks for the help!!!

Am I asking to much of this space to have two rooms, CR + studio?? :?:
So, you've basically got 13' x 20' space with a full 8' headroom, am I understanding this correctly? Steve
18' x 20' with full 8' high...
Here are more detailed drawings.

We need a little more info about what you're looking to accomplish up there... what are your sound isolation requirements? Do you need to be able to fire up a jet engine without being able to hear it outside? How big of a tracking room will you need- full band? just drums? Where are the stairs? I don't think it's impossible to get a control room and tracking room in there, but it might be tricky. My recommendation would be to build a 12' wide control room into the little "nook" between the low ceiling areas, maybe 14' or 15' long, sticking out into the remainder of the space by however far. It'd be awfully convenient if the stairs were located under one of the low roof areas... it'd sure be easier to accomodate. But yeah. Let us know more about what you need the space to do for you, and we'll be more help. We can just rattle off designs all day, but they'll work for you better if we know more. Help us help you. =)
