I was wondering where the cheapest place to buy foam is? I am needing to treat a room and have been looking at all the obvious places and just do not want to pay the high $$ for Auralux, any suggestions? Travis
Travis, first can you update your profile to include a location? It's hard to make recommendations not knowing even what country you're from; we have members from all over the world. If you insist on using foam, even though rigid fiberglass or mineral wool works on a wider range of frequencies, you could try foambymail.com - I've seen others post cheaper prices from them... Steve
I am not DEAD set on using foam, I need to kill reflections in my vocal booth. Where is the best place to get mineral wool>? I am looking for the most cost effective way to kill reflections and have a DEAD vocal booth. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!! Thanks knightfly for the previous response!!
Check here for possible sources http://www.roxul.com/sw34066.asp Also, look in the building supplies forum http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=6 someone may have already posted sources near you. Next, check the yellow pages for commercial insulation contractors, and call every one of them to see if they will sell you either rockwool, mineral wool, slag wool, rigid fiberglass - these will all work, they're all better and cheaper than foam, you want roughly 3 pound per cubic foot density in any of the above products, 2" thick for a booth. Don't get discouraged doing this; you can't find the right stuff at Home Depot or Lowes, and not all commercial contractors are willing to deal with the public. A positive attitude and friendly demeanor will get you further than demanding, in any case. Hope that helps... Steve
