Hey guys, glad i found this place. Here is my situation. Building a studio in the garage. I have 10x17x9 to work with, the ceilings were originally 7' but i raised them today to 9'(wasn't fun), but rather do it right the 1st time. This is a one man studio, i am a guitar player mainly, but want to get into syths maybe and just have fun recording. But i do want to get a good recording. I don't think i have enough room for a control room. My question is, how important is it to break up the rectangle shape i have? Right now i have bare walls and joists, doing the electrical tommorow. I will have pics in the moring. Since raising the ceiling i have added some angle on either side of the walls going from the top plate up the rafters then to the ceiling itself giving a nice slope. I also play bass and will be incorporating that as well. Alot to ask i guess. I'll try and get a drawing made up.
Regards,

Well a short sweet answer...
it's very important that you break up the rectangular shape of your room. :)
