heya guys. im eric. im 15 and i have been recoding for about 6 years. i help out at many local studios and it's a huge passion of mine (along with drumming) :P i've just worked my ass off for the last year and ive managed to persude by dad (an architect) to convert our 6m by 3m garage into a studio. i'm running cubase with a yamaha 01x, numerous mics, 57s, D112 etc. so im pretty well equiped. (for someone my age at least :D ) But the studio design has left me somewhat stumped. It one room 6m by 3m. quite small. i cant sperarate the rooms as i use it for band practices often as well as recording. but im looking for other solutions. semi permant. etc. possibly wall treatment. im not to sure. any help - ideas tips. anything. i would be very greatful. i'll post the room space as it stands. then later on tonight i'll post a picture of the items i need to be in there. (drum kit, guitars, many amps, cd shelves etc etc.) anything would be helpful. thanks. erc

It's a tunnel-ish room, but that might work to your advantage. Build some wall units per John's design (via the link provided by Mr Giles) but try to make the back end of the room as live as possible. Put the drums at one end, and the mixing desk at the other. It's not a horrible situation, and you'll be able to do good work there if you spend some time on the room. The stuff you put in there doesn't even need to be permanent.
hey sorry ive been at a drum festival in london. thanks for your help. I'll post the design as it stands soon. at this point in time i havent thought much about the acoustic treatment of the walls. its something i dont know much about. giles - i looked at the link. thanks. do you think once ive put up the plan as it is now someone oculd plan where the absorbers etc go? thanks. eric
