Whynot - you may change your mind :) cheers john

And Soffiting your mackies will be a good thing anyway. LOL So you;d be totally prepared.
bryan how do you keep them from overheating?

The design the other guy posted is the design I went with. The back is open to allow for plenty of ventilation. I overheated them one time and that was a night I was just being LOUD around 98-100db SPL continuos for 3 to 4 hours then one overheated. You know, when the red light is blinking A LOT. LOL For safety you might want to place some small (120mm ) fans to blow air across the back. I dont have any and they stay pretty cool. :) Silenx makes some nice EXTREMELY quiet fans (like 14dbA) www.silenx.com Otherwise I have never had a problem and I have done some very LONG mix sessions. I also tend not to monitor past 85dBa
thanks for the feedback. now i think i will soffit mount them. i feel a little better about it after seeing it actually done. jdf
I think soffit mounting rear ported/passive-radiator speakers like the HR824 is a bad idea. It's simply turns the low end response into a crapshoot. You can do a search here for more detailed explanations I've given. Thomas
