I am renting a new place that has a control room that measures 19ft long x 9.3ft wide with a ceiling of only 7.1ft. Its a loft type arrangement. I used a calculator to calculate room modes and it seems I have peaks around 70hz,190hz,250hz,300hz 500 and 550 hz. Where I am set up at the moment I got some fibergalss insualtion in big bags and wrapped them in cloth. I put these in the front corners just slightly behind my monitors, only reaching half way to the roof. Somehow, this seemed to help with the bottom end, though I was not expecting anything. Dont know now if I should try the same approach again or go for something a bit more specific. Any recommendations? The live room, while quite a bit bigger is still small with a sloping roof. The highest point in the room is 7.7ft. I want to record drums in this room but am worried about the ceiling height, even if I deaden it completely above the drums. On a positive, 2 walls have hard wall only half way down. Below this, its just frame covered in material and behind this is a crap load of insulation. Am I correct in presuming this will act as a bass trap of sorts and allow the room to breath a bit? Thanks alot for any and all recommendations or general comments guys. :0)
