Hey, bad news - welcome to the board; can you please update your profile to include a location (not your address, just a city/state) so we can give better suggestions for materials... IS this booth going to be in another room, and if so what is the existing ceiling height? Also, do you need space for a guitar, amp, anything but a person and mic? Any extra info you can throw out will get you better suggestions - thanks... Steve
...changed this booth is going to be in another room..ceiling height=8ft roughly... will be used for rapping...fit one person..no amp/guitar/etc... no need to soundproof just to absrob sound..and deaden the echo.. thanks
up plz
If soundproofing isn't important, you can build with a single layer of 5/8" plywood or OSB, using 2x4's only for corners and door frame - you'll get a better sounding booth though, if you use odd size dimensions - for example, a booth that's 7' tall inside, with the other two dimensions of 3' and 5', even though it's harder to build, will not have modal problems (it will sound better, even BEFORE you add absorbent materials in about half the wall area) - I'm off to work right now (12-hour graveyard shifts) but if you need an actual plan, I can probably draw up something that would work for you - let me know... Steve
yea. that would help a lot...alright..jus get at me
up pppp
hey bad news. i did a project like this last year. dimensions were roughly 7 tall by 5 by 6 see: http://www.johnlsayers.com/Studio/Pages/Eric_henry.htm simple construction, 2X4's and drywall. materials were really cheap to make. it was great for singing and acoustic guitar. things i wish i'd done differently: 1. made it bigger. it gets really small in there and it's just really hard to control the low mids in a small room. i sing pretty quietly, but once you start belting it out it really makes a difference to have a little more space. 2. made it with a window. when it was just me, it was fine, if i was recording someone else, it was a little weird. 3. made the door open out! doh!
so it would work for rappin too right? thanks
Will this be freestanding? Do you want to be able to tear it down and take it someplace else?
nah.^ stayin in one place
