I am reading all these posts, people are interested in the most killer desing and acoustics for their budget. Please dont take this wrong, but I dont really have a budget, I can do what I want (within reason) and probably squeeze the turnip enough to make it happen... and yet I am not really here for that. My finished product will be fun with lighting, have acoustic tiles and a little thought in the area of reflection ( or not) and Ill have a separate booth for the gear with a window, but Im not going for the ultimate cause I just dont care. Being honest, and kinda laughing at myself.... so knowing that, am I banished? or am I ok. Are any of you guys that install or just have good knowledge only have a soso studio. Just curious... g
Well, since you put it that way, get the f*** out... Just kidding - there is enough collective expertise here to answer most of your questions, whether related to acoustics and the search for perfection or not - besides, if you hang around long enough, you'll probably get addicted and wanna build Carnegie Hall West :? Another, almost completely unrelated thought - if you don't give a s**t, look at all the money you'll save on toilet paper; money that should be spent on goodies anyway... 8) Steve
Just have reasonable expectations about the results. It is the guys who think they can stick up some eggcrate and the neighbor's won't hear them that drives folks crazy.
Hey I built my Studio on $15.00 a day income over the course of 3 months. If I can do it, you can :) Ok maybe 45 a day. (Strictly CD sales)
Alright,,,, feelin better. I ll hang around a bit. 8)
Welcome here! Now that you feel comfortable. Mayve you vcan answer some questions so that we CAN help you. What is your budget? We have multimillion to 100 dollar "projects", and every one is on a budget. What space do you have? How much sound isolation do you want/need? What music style and volume? What instruments? How many musicians at once? What equipment do already have? What monitors? The more info you give us up front the better and quicker we can all get possible ideas to you, Andre
ok, 30x32 building, with 10x10 office/ sound room, the rest is a jam area and drum stage, pool table, and beer fridge. You can see why the total sound controlled room thing will be hard as this is a fun area that I would like to have a somewhat controlled sound, not perfect sound. thats all. cheap too. I play with line6 flextone 2 and the shortboard(love it) 100 w amp combo. Son plays bass, Gallion Kruger 15" 100w combo i think. The other son plays my old pearl set- 7 piece on a sweet gibralter rack. I have a Scheckter(sp?) with duncans, gold on gold, tons of inlay and an Ibenez. we have pa, eq, some other stuff, but will eventually rebuy for the new jam room. We play some rush, I hope to play like 'the edge' soon, ricky sam-whateverhisnameis-bora from bon jovi. the kids like whatever I like for now. Pretty cool. The reason the budget isnt all that important as I wont allow myself to dump a load of cash into it, after reading some posts from here, I will probably install two bass traps at the far end of the room, some hanging fiber sound board panels from the ceiling, and coat the ceiling and top 2 feet with those commercial fiber ceiling tiles. Not sure what that will do, except that it will be quick, cheap, and will be better than just plain walls. You see the ceiling is still vaulted, you know, its basically a pole barn shop finished inside. I will take some digital pics and send em out. dont pick your brain too hard for me, Ill just be happy to get a cool place to rock and record a little with the kids. gotta go g
