How about this?

What do you guys think of this simple floorplan? The idea is that the only room that needs SERIOUS isolation is the Iso area, which would be floated on pucks and built totally with isolation in mind. I would like to do a basic finish of the space as a large 23 X 23 studio apartment with a bathroom, then do my construction as an overlay, so that it could be removed if we decide to put the house on the market. This is my fifth studio, but only the first that I've built more or less from scratch, so the big question is this: are the spaces that I've carved out going to be big enough for their respective functions? Also, the roof has a 13 foot peak running North South with respect to the drawing, with 7'9" ceiling height along the perimeters of the garage. How should I best make use of the ceiling height at the center? I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks

The isoarea has a three-leaf construction to the booth and office area which will give you less isolation. Kill one of those walls...
Not really feeling that control room. Could you place your mix console, etcc....
Bryan - could you pull up one of the countless 20 x 20 designs we've posted before?? cheers john
Sure john, here is a recent one. LOL It's 22x 20 but 2 feet is no big deal to alter for his space

Yup - that'll fit - thanks mate :) cheers john
Thanks for the template. I've done some modifications, making the live area a bit smaller since I'll be cutting electric and acoustic guitars and vocals in there 99% of the time. I made room for a narrow bathroom with the toilet against the north wall of the room. The ridge of my roof bisects the space running North/South.....how does this affect the design? Also, did I make any big acoustical boo boos with these mods? Finally, if the bath becomes too costly (or impractical, or against zoning, etc.) for the design, could I just make the control room proportionally bigger, pushing it into the bathroom space and some of the lounge? Most of my work is composing for film and tv, and I'm going to be spending most of my working life in that one room, so the bigger, the better for me. Thanks for all of the help, everyone. Jim

Sure why not, it was merely a guide. :)
