Thanks for having such a great forum!!!
i am in the process of renting a 3000 sq ft commercial basement for a multimedia complex. it is a big 60 ft X 50 ft rectangle. i would like to include a drum kit booth, a control room, a vocal booth, and an additional recording booth. Also i was thinking in 2 separate video editing rooms (near the main control room), a small conference room, bathroom, lounge, and a reception area.
i have no idea in how to start a layout design for such a space, and what other things i should look out for.
any help in how to start designing will be greatly appreciated
thanx

Start by looking at other studios and their layouts. Several excellent idieas are at

Particularly have a look at Joe Egan's Studio.
Once you get some ideas we can help develop them.
Some questions:
what is the ceiling height?
How much sound isolation from the outside do you need?
As above but want?
How much sound isolation between the rooms in the studio?
What style of music?
How commited/ locked in are you to certain construction materials?
Has the floor been poured and do you have options to change it if it isn't?
What style(s) of music?
Acoustic, amplified, or both types of instruments?
Enjoy!
