All, I have three poured concrete walls in my basement that are currently covered with R19 insulation. I am planning to leave about 1/2" airgap and building another wall with 5/8" drywall attached to resilient channel attached to 2x4 studs. What I want to find out is if would be considered a double leaf wall. Would the resilient channel create a three leaf wall? Should I drop the resilent channel or move the studs as close to the concrete wall/insulation as possible? I am attaching the layout and a drawing explaing the wall construction. The concrete walls with insulation are the right, bottom and half of the left walls.

Shaz - the resilient channel is not necessary in your case as there is no drywall on the other side of the stud. You just have a standard two leaf system there. BTW read up on building in a basement with regard to moisture - it's a sticky in Steve's construction forum. :) cheers john
Thanks John! My contractor wanted to charge me more to install RC anyway, I guess I can save some money!
