I live in the Caribbean where music is not exactly a big money maker. SO I am building a Home Studio to record local acts for the fun of it ( who knows where it might lead) Sorry for the quality of the drawing, I need some advice on my design. the studio is under a portion of my house, which now sits on pillars. the area where the entrance to the control room is is surrounded by three pillars. I have not cast the floor yet.

Your control room size is the same as mine :) Makes a nice room and not sure of materials costs in the carribean, but it is a reasonable build. :)
Hi giles could you redo my plan for me, and if posibble give some different designs . also I would like a design that can give me the option of increasing the size on the side away from the house. The studio will be a midi based studio but it would be nice to have an area where I can record live drums. I would like to have a finish similar to Joe Egan's http://www.johnlsayers.com/Studio/Pages/Egan5.htm I am willing to send you a donation for your design. I cannot use paypal from down here but I can send a money orderor buy you some thing off a wish list at amazon . Thanks in Advance.
Your sound lock is absolutely too small. Judging by the scale the doors are about 12 inches wide Even if the whole thing were blown up so the doors were a more typical 30 inches wide there would not be enough space to move around. Imagine trying to get from the control booth to the recording booth while carrying something even a little bulky
I am concern about that, thats why I think my design needs a lot of work, the good thing is, I have no floor at this moment since this part of the house is on pillars. I just want to get it right before I even think of starting.
Short on time, but maybe rotate the control room and use a modified version of the Garage Studio 2, here http://www.saecollege.de/reference_mate ... /Plans.htm Then, open up the vocal and noise room into one, and use that small air lock area for a computer room. You'll likely want pretty short cables for some of the computer-to-CR connections, so this would put those closer... Steve
ok I see what you are saying I will redo the plan and post it. I am wondering if giles could email me the folder of he has 0f all john's plans. And could some one tell me what program they use to do those good looking plans
program is called smartdraw
Need your email address The folder is about 3.5MB and includes almost every plan on this site. Most have been renamed to include size in Feet. I did this as it makes it easy to glean ideas for people without doing long searches on the site (I did a search back last year to find a plan and I ended up with 300 links.) not good at all :)
