my garage floor is a mess. badly pitted(?) concrete. I planned on using carpet so I wasn't too worried about it but now I'm realizing how bad carpet would be. I'd like to use pergo or the like but this floor is not smooth at all. I looked into the floor leveling stuff but it would cost way too much. the rooms are already built and I'm just starting to do all the finishing stuff (lighting, paint, cloth over inside out roxul filled walls and ceiling etc...) I need to be done with this very soon and am running out of cash quickly. What are my options? is carpet THAT bad or can I compensate for it with other treatment? how smooth does the floor need to be to use laminate flooring? I read on a website that it can't vary more than 2mm. thats pretty freakin flat. I doubt I could get it that smooth even if I spent the bucks on the leveling mix. did I misunderstand what they meant by that? any advice would be awesome you guys. you haven't steered me wrong yet. Thanks, Daniel
hi daniel,
I doubt I could get it that smooth even if I spent the bucks on the leveling mix
i just built a house and used self-leveling concretemix a lot. you can get a really flat surface with that. local homeimprovement stores have their own brands way cheaper than regular ones. they work fantastic. give it a try. another option: build a floating floor.
