My son wants to start doing mixing and editing work, i have included the drawings, i have a large budget and am willing to help him out, the only problem is the fact that this is, after all, a bedroom, and with windows and doors it may post a large problem. Thanks very much to anyone who posts.

I think that the first question is how easily do you wish this to be convertable back into a bedroom when your son moves on or if you decide to sell the house.
I don't want to do too much construction, as you are correct, i can place any accoustics on the walls and i can place temporary acoustic walls such as those offered by auralex or other companies. This will ONLY be used as a "control room" or "mastering room", so i don't think that i need to do too much construction.
FSM - here's your room to scale with some suggestions you could start with. cheers John

i am very new to this, what is 703, i went to spi but i can't seem to find it, also by slot resonators you mean acousitc foam type absorbers?, also what is a hanger trap, and where can i buy one? I will begin construction of this room soon, and i will post some pictures when i am done.

703 is shorthand for Owens-Corning 703 unfaced rigid fiberglass insulation 3 pounds per cubic foot. Now, there are other products (Johns-Manville spinglass, Roxul Mineral wool, etc). What you want is something slightly denser than the fluffy batts that you will find in the home improvement store but more porus thatn really rigid boards, That is where the density factor, about 3 or 4 pounds per cubic foot, is important. A slot resonator is a wooden frame with more of the 703 inside of it. the front angled face has slots in it to let some sound in and bounce others. The sae site mentioned above has plans. the hanger trap is something that I had not heard of before, but judging from the pictures a very clever idea. Take sheets of 703, attach them to clothes hangers, and then hang them in the closet like clothes! This would be an extrordinarily effective bass trap.
