i useally see designes for basstraps using 703, would rockwool work the same. i plan to make it in a box type thing and mount it a few inches from the wall.
Probably. Your post is too vague as to style of absorber, material thickness etc.
Most likely yes. what you are mostly looking for is an unfaced batt product with about a 3-4 pcf density If you look at the product sheet you can see if its perfomance is similar to 703.
Environmentally I'd suspect that rockwool would be preferable to 703 as it's it's made from rock which produces dust as opposed to fibreglass that produces glass fibres. cheers john
hey all, I agree with john fully, the rock wool will put less hazarous material in the air as is absorbs the low frq energy. However, you will have to wrap your traps with a loose woven fabric to keep the rockwool in place for years to come. The 703 can just be glued to your Mass (Plywood, drywall, laminate, etc,) and forgotten about. another words..... the rock wool is to limp to stand up on its own. just my 2 cents jai
Jai - here in aussieland we have system of applying rockwool to a wall so it won't sag. see attached pic ;) cheers john

A clarificaion, ther are mineral fibers that come in batts (loose), semi-rigid (like 703), and rigid. It all depends on wgich rock wool.
Hey John, NOW you tell me. LOL after i struggled in pain trying to figure out how to keep this stuff from moving. LOL Thanks I added it to what i do.
Thanks John, That info would have been great ...... oh, say 11 studios ago!!!! :D Do you make your plastic stips yourself or is it a buy type thing? I have been using that roofing net stuff that goes over seems on tar roofs. It keeps it from falling out, but I have found since going back to a room and re-tuning that the stuff does not keep it from sinking straight down from it's own weight. Does the plastic system keep it up. From the pix it looks like the piece you slide on is long therefore holding it striaght? Yes???? Thanks for all the wonderful insite!!!!!!!!! jai
