Thank you, chrispire! It's very heartening to get comments like yours, in appreciation of what we do! Spam is a problem, and we do try to deal with it fast. Normally we delete the message and the spammer, so forum members aren't bothered by it, but occasionally (like here) I just delete the "payload" and allow the rest to stand, so others can see what we have to put up with. Of course, in all cases we immediately put permanent blocks and bans on the user name, e-mail address and IP address of the offender, so if they do want to come back, they will need to use a different computer, a different e-mail account, and a different user name. As soon as we have done that, we then delete the spammer completely, but leave the bans in place. There are many hundreds of banned e-mail addresses, banned IP addresses and banned usernames in the data base now.... But the good thing is, the tide is slowly turning. The more we block, the fewer chances they have of getting back in, and they seem to tire faster than we do! :) It's a pain killing spam, but I do it for the simple reason that I don't like walking around in raw sewage! ... I clean up the "sewage" so forum members don't have to walk through it either, here on the forum! So thanks for the comment! :thu: - Stuart -
