Hi all, been a lurker here for a while and really enjoy the site. So here's my problem:
I'm about to buy a condo and plan on using the second bedrom as a studio. it's roughy 8 x 10 (can't know for sure until I getthe keys and measure) with a window on one of the shorter walls, and the door and closet on the other. It also has pergo laminate wood floors.
Here's my two questions:
I was planning on taking the pergo out and putting carpet in, but I'm not sure if that's the best idea. would leaving it and putting an area rug down instead of a drasticly negative effect on the acoustics?
I plan on putting the console in front of the window and taking the doors off the closet and using the clothes I'm putting in there as a natural bass trap. What sort of acoustic elements should I place on the longer walls? I have a lot of auralex left from the space I'm in now, but I wanted something that would sound better and look more astheticly pleasing.
Tips? Advice?
Thanks for your help, and thanks John for having such a great site for people like me who don't know a lot, but want to still have a good sounding studio.

TINY. :)
But the ideas you are on the way, Build some bass hangers and place them in the clost, the auralex (I am antti auralex since I built my room) I gave it all away. :)
Anyway tak a gander at this site and these plans. ;)

So I think I need to go with some slot resonators on the long walls. Does that sound right?
Now I need to decide what to do with the laminate floor. To carpet or not to carpet?
Deaden your ceiling not your floor. And slot resonators are a good idea :)
What should I put on the ceiling? I'm not planning to stay for more than 2 years, so it needs to be something non-destructive that will come out easy.
Anything like that exist? :?:
