Hi everyone,
I have recently been made redundant from my fly in/fly out job so now that I am home every night of the week I want to setup my bedroom studio properly.
I have been looking at this kit from Primacoustic which ends up to about $380AUD with shipping from here but have also looked into the Auralex kits but have read bad reviews.
My setup is currently in my bedroom (see floor plan) and I have windows behind where the monitors sit so I was thinking of making up stands for the panels here as they won't be able to be mounted. So far my idea is to put 1 panel behind each monitor, 1 panel behind my screen, 1 panel in the corner to the left and the scatter blocks along the wall to the left.
One consideration to be made is I cannot drill into the wall so the ones I can mount will be done with command strips of some sort.
Will this setup be sufficient enough? What other areas would need coverage? Opinions on acoustic foam, could I have a mix of both? I see foam as the easy option because of how I can install it but have heard bad reviews.
I know there is the DIY method but i'm not sure if that is an avenue I would like to go down but this depends on the money saved and time invested (currently looking into costs).
Any suggestions would be great, thanks :)
Bedroom studio acoustic treatment

hey there,
to be honest, the shape of that room isn't going to work for mixing at all. There is no symmetry to speak of and you have a curved wall in front of you. This is not good.
As a short answer i'd say you're better off spending the money you're thinking of investing in a high end set of headphones for mixing. The money it would cost you to make that room usable is probably not worth thinking about if you can't even drill in to the walls.
Hope that doesn't rain on your parade, but don't throw money at acoustic treatment for that room.
all the best,
steve
Yeah, I think Steve pretty much summarized it: That's not a usable acoustic environment for mixing.
Do you have any other rooms in the house that might be more suitable?
