Hi Again! Well, after an incredibly frustrating 7 months during which time my old studio closed, the lease on the new building fell through, stuff was put in storage, it seems I have finally secured a new premises and am anxious to start the build. I enclose a link to the design. Any comments/observations would be most gratefully received. The thick black lines are MSM structures. 2 x layers of plasterboard with a layer of Green glue between. Ventilation will be through 2 Heat recovery ventilation systems 1 in each room. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00C2RCF6G?psc=1 Ceiling height is about 3.86 metres. Is there anything seriously wrong with this design? http://pl.an/ljonvo Thankyou in advance, Les
Hi Les, That is a good height, and it seems like a decent size. I would recommend re-drawing it using Sketchup, it's free, and allows us to share designs easily. There seems to be some errors I can see: - You are missing some details which are required by the forum: viewtopic.php?t=3231 - You have msm structures and the existing walls, creating triple leafs. Unintuitively, these will actually decrease your isolation. - The control room faces away from the live room, wasting the opportunity for sight lines. - What else is in the building?

Thankyou very much for your reply. this studio is based in dublin, Ireland. The floor is concrete, and I intend to simply lay a wooden floor on top, rather than floating one. As you may be able to see from the drawing, i am in the back corner of a large stone warehouse in a residential area. Above me there is a pourd concrete ceiling, and that space is used as a photography studio. To the east of the studio, on the same floor, there will be a gallery which will have occasional exhibits. As for the control room facing away from the live room, I couldnt figure out a better way to orient things. The live room is visible through a window on my right. Unfortunately there is a thick stone supporting wall that separates the live room from the control room, which has an aperture of 2.65m. The door to the control room and the window are located in that space. I am aware of the triple leaf effect, and will only be building internal walls where the studio is bounded by stone..I have attached a jpg of the image which i hope complies with all the rules now. Sorry.. :-) file:///Users/leskeye/Downloads/arad-dlight4.jpg I will try again to use sketchup..but my attempts at using this program in the past, have been..er..less than stellar...! once again thankyou for your time!
