Hi all
I am trying to plan out my control room and I have a few questions. Check out the attached drawing.
- The control room is 8 feet tall
- The wall between the drum room and the control room is 12 feet long
- The wall along the outside windows is 10 feet long
- I need to keep the windows to the outside
- The door into the control room has to stay
- I would like to create some soffits for my mains
- There are about 3 racks full of gear, I might need a 4th rack at the end of the day but I should be able to be keep it to 3 if I have to
- I don't have a desk yet to put my screens on etc. so I am open to ideas
- The control room doesn't need a lot of isolation
- The room is drywalled right now but that is probably going to come down. I will be putting a couple of layers of drywall on the inside of the stud / joist bays then I am going to put up Safe N Sound around the whole room along with super chunks etc.
- I still need to add some ventilation into the drum room. I plan on doing that along the top ceiling of the control room over to the drum room but that probably doesn't change things much on the layout of the control room.
I am trying to figure out which direction to face the control room. I don't know how I can create symmetry, use soffits and super chunks. Any help would be appreciated GREATLY.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry... file attached to this post....
I would set it up facing the window. That's the only orientation where you can get reasonable symmetry. The soffits will have to partly cover the window. The superchunks can go in the horizontal wall/ceiling corners, and the vertical wall/wall corner at the right rear of the room. - Stuart -I am trying to figure out which direction to face the control room.
